Welcome Chaplain Regimental Crest

The Department of Pastoral Ministry Training (DPMT) welcomes you to our operations at Joint Base San Antonio. The DPMT provides specific training within the U.S Army Medical Center of Excellence (MEDCoE) for preparation in combat and complex emotional situations. Our goal is to create a continuing spiritual fabric within the United States Military that will provide for current and future generations of Soldiers and their Families.

Our mission is to train United States Military Chaplains and Religious Affairs Specialists in clinical and trauma settings to deliver world-class religious support across the spectrum of military, medical, and ministry operations.

How do I know what Medical Ministry Courses are available to me?
The Medical Ministry Course Brochure is available for download by clicking on the icon
above or by clicking here. The brochure lists and describes the courses that are offered, with links to ATRRS to search the dates available.

How do I enroll in a Medical Ministry Course?
To enroll in one of the Medical Ministry Courses offered by the DPMT, you must fill out and submit a registration form and DA FORM 3838 (Application For Short Course Training). Click on the icon above to download the corresponding fiscal year registration form and DA FORM 3838(Application For Short Course Training). If the fiscal year registration form and DA FORM 3838 (Application For Short Course Training) you want is not available to download, request one via email.

Who covers the cost of travel and TDY?
Your unit is responsible for paying for the travel and TDY costs. This must be secured prior to your attendance at any course for which you have registered.

How do I get put into ATRRS?
Active Duty: You must first register with the Department of Pastoral Ministry Training for the course you wish to attend.
You will be put into ATRRS 30 days prior to the start of the course.
Reserve and National Guard: You must first register with the Department of Pastoral Ministry Training for the course you wish to attend. After you receive your confirmation email, submit a request to your Schools NCO to submit the A-1 application.

I am a Religious Affairs Specialist, how do I obtain the 1M Additional Skill Identifier?
You must successfully complete the Emergency Medical Ministry Course in order to be awarded the 1M ASI.

I am a Chaplain, how do I obtain the 7R or 7S Skill Identifier?

I am in the Reserves, how do I apply for the SI/ASI I have earned?

How do I get into the Clinical Pastoral Education residency program?
Attendance of the CPE program is determined through a board selection process by the Office of the Chief of Chaplains. If
you are selected to attend, you must submit an application packet. The application packet is available for download by
clicking here.

How do I get into the Supervisory Education Student program?
Attendance of the SES program is determined through a board selection process by the Department of Pastoral Ministry
Training. If you wish to apply for consideration, you must submit an application packet. The eligibility requirements and
application packet are available for download by clicking here
